Playoff preview: Liberty

Liberty plays O’Dea at Memorial Stadium Friday at 7 p.m.

O’Dea

Intro: The Irish have a 9-1 record and won the Metro League.
Best win: O’Dea easily beat a tough Seattle Prep team 40-13 Oct. 2
Worst loss: By definition, it would have to be Sept. 12 against Bothell. But it’s tough to knock the Irish too much for a loss to Washington’s top 4A team.
Trend: Slightly up. O’Dea is on an eight-game win streak, but the Irish didn’t pull away from a 6-4 Bonney Lake team until the late third quarter last week.
Extra point: Look for running, running and more running from O’Dea. The Irish have five running backs that average five yards per carry or more (25 rushes or more on the season).
Bottom line: Wet weather could play a big role here since rain would help a rushing team like O’Dea and hamper Liberty’s passing attack.
That said, I still take Liberty since the Patriots have experience playing against an elite rush offense (Bellevue) and haven’t been stopped on offense yet.
